Hollywood
This zone aims to transport you to the land of the glamorous! Spend some time to look around and admire the details of the reconstruction of down town LA. From the swaying palm trees, iconic buildings, classic music from the air to the "stars" on the Broadway. Lots to take in the first minute of walking into the park. Most likely then not, you will most likely spot characters welcoming you into the park.
There are no rides in this zone but is packed with 6 (5 inside and 1 outside the park) shopping stores! Although it is very tempting, skip the shopping part and head straight for the rides first. That way you can better appreciate the souvenirs and merchandise. Also since the whole stretch is sheltered, this can be your back up zone to visit during a downpour.
This zone also houses the Guest Services and Stroller/Wheelchair rental counter immediately to the left and right of the entrance.

Mel’s Drive-In
If you like burgers and milk shake, this is the place to go. I love this place for their retro 50’s decorations. Complete with classic cars of that era, fake juke boxes at the tables, really shiny seats and awesome black and white pictures. This place serves all-American favourites like burgers, hot dogs and thick milk shakes.
I can say this is a “must visit” for any first timer, just to soak up the atmosphere and experience the McDonalds of yesteryears. It is defiantly a hit with young adults and children. But be warned as this place is perpetually crowded. Especially during peak hours where queues can mean 30 mins long wait.
My expectation was high when I first dined there. The Chili dog was above average but the milk shake was a bit of a let down. It was not thick enough and was served on a plastic cup. I guess that is why the shake sort of lost it’s punch after it was left out for 5 mins.
I think the classic cheeseburger that I had was out-of-this world that I devoured the burger in double quick time!

Celebrity Café and Bakery
Celebrity Café and Bakery- famous for their sandwiches, cookies, soups and croissants. This café cum bakery is ultimately for those who love good and fresh bread. Right from the oven!!
The settings is like a cafe in down town Chicago in the 50’s. The floor is made of black and white square tiles and the waiters there wear little black tie to recreate the elegant upper class cafe environment.
The croissants I had was a bit flat. Maybe because I was there at 3pm and is not as fresh as in the morning. But it is a good place just to relax your tired legs and munch on something light. It is also a great place to people (and characters too!) watch. The cafe gives you a full view of Hollywood main street so you can easily spot any new characters coming out to greet visitors. I once took pictures with 3 characters within 30mins of sitting there!
The only thing that bugs me is I don’t understand why they must sell those plastic 3D dinosaur drink bottle at the counter....it just spoils the overall environment. :(
